Well, .380 is a damn sight better than .41 Rimfire, and this derringer isn't more than 90 years old and can be left in a pocket without much adverse effects... _________________ Smart, Unpredictable and Cunning

True, but 9MM is more potent, loaded in more varieties, and likely more available (I don't know for a fact, but a friend of mine said 380 is getting hard to find, around here anyway).
The .380 would be softer for recoil for those that require it, but would it be that much softer than 9MM or, perhaps, .38 SPL? _________________ That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom— and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. |

For me,, I would like the .380 as a backup to my backup..
(same ammo as the P3AT)
otherwise, yes it's a wussy caliber compared to real calibers (.38, 9mm, .40, .45, etc) _________________ Those who adapt control the future

Just shooting the breeze here, but a 2 shot deringer in .410 would be a great back up/bad breath distance gun.
Personally, I'll take my SW 640 in .38 SPL instead of the deringer. A speed strip might be slow, but trying to reload that 2 shooter would be worse!
Yes, I know it just a back up. My little .44 Charter Bulldog takes up just a little more room.
And, it has five shots.
Barrel is just long enough to be a good handle when it becomes "Club Time" too.
After all my rounds are expended, if the Zombies are still active, I will use the Ninja knives and then pull out the concealed Claymore.
When that one breaks, I can still resort to my "weighted" cane/walking stick.
All else fails, I will try the "shoe leather" approach.

While not strictly authentic, I would use it as a costume accessory for CAS events, although I would probably choose a different caliber. _________________ Good judgment comes from experience, but experience comes from bad judgment. |

I was opening up birthday presents one year, and, the wife bought me a Davis derringer in 22wrm. What can you say but,,thanks. After testing it with the tmc (fmj) 40 gr. it has a muzzle V of 1,000 fps for nearly 90ft/lbs energy, cut thru 3 milk jugs full of water and kept going. That translates to a nasty gunshot wound. The trigger pull is heavy, saftey iffy, sights poor, the bottom barrel isnt quite drilled straight (it shoots down and to the right) and keyholes some of the rounds it doesnt like. And is tedious to reload. But it drops in a pocket, goes places when i'm too lazy to carry a gun. Beats a sharp stick hands down. I would imagine the 380 is similar. A derringer in the pocket beats an IDPA rig in the closet.
