First I would suggest taking your new rifle to a competent gunsmith and having the length of pull adjusted specifically for you. At the sametime you could have a decent recoil pad installed if needed. I know when the Win. M70 in .300 Weatherby mag first came into existence the recoil pad was practically non-existant, lol. The first thing I did before taking the fifle home was have the buttstock cut to my length of pull and a new recoil pad installed. The rifle was a pleasure to shoot from the first day I took it to the range.
Also, be sure you have the rifle properly seated in your "shoulder pocket" when firing. That may be the whole problem right there. |

Sound advice. Also, try a properly adusted sling. That provides more points of body to rifle engagement. Shoulder, cheek, sling, forehand. And breath...oh, and please hit your caps lock key.

not that I bench shoot too often, but I'd suggest a rifle vise
and a lot of sandbags
Strap it in good, pack it well with sandbags and you can just pull the trigger and let gravity do all the work
I've never tried it with a .300 win mag, but I assume it wold work like smaller rifles _________________ Those who adapt control the future

length of pull, a confortable recoil pad, a proper seating like the gentlemen before me said, but hell boresighting helps immensly getting that sucker on target. My brother learned that lesson the hard way with a .375 RUM he had to have. To date he has put 5 rounds through that rifle. _________________ "blah blah blah" said the chairborne ranger |

All of the above a good suggestions.
If that recoil is too much for you, then it could be causing you to flinch.
Have somebody WATCH you shoot it.
I've had some big bore magnums that kicked the crap out of me.
Didn't enjoy shooting them at all and THAT affected the accuracy
It wasn't the firearm's fault, it was all on MY end. _________________ When it comes to evil, to tolerate is to accommodate, to accommodate is to appease, and to appease is to concede defeat. |

Shoulder pad may help some. If not, check into a recoil pad. I shoot mine without it, but I've worked my way up to it from 7 mag and have been shooting for 20+ years. _________________ Everyone has a photographic memory. Some just don't have film. |
